  • Kymberly Newman

    DVM

Dr. Newman is originally from upstate Virginia, just outside Washington DC. She joined VCA Palmetto in 1999. She went to undergraduate school at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC and veterinary school at the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. Besides having a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine she has a dual Masters degree in Managerial Leadership and Business from Webster University. Dr. Newman has a special fondness for cats (she says 3 is her magic number of cats- Spider monkey, Britches, and Twister - two can play while one can rest).

  • Laurel Berger-Bishop

    DVM

I grew up in Norway, Tanzania and Kenya, and came to the US to go to college. Growing up overseas was a great adventure, and biology has always been a primary interest in my life. This interest was fueled by a mother who was a parasitologist, and of course being in places where we spent all our vacations on safari in the bush. This interest in biology led me into research as a career, and I worked in various fields including marine biology, plant pathology, chemical analysis and phytoremidiation before deciding to go back to school for my DVM at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Here at VCA Palmetto Animal Hospital I work mainly with cats and dogs, but I also love to see reptiles and amphibians. My areas of special interest include acupuncture, stem cell therapy and therapeutic laser. I love to teach, and feel like it is important as a veterinarian to be able to communicate information to clients that can help them care for their pets in the best possible way. I myself strive to continue to learn and improve my skills and knowledge, so that I can offer the highest quality medicine to all clients and their animals. I also believe in caring, personal service for each individual client and patient, tailored to fit individual needs. My husband (the love of my life) and I have 5 furry children: 3 Pomeranians, a rescued American Eskimo and a Georgia Yard Cat. .

  • Tacy Dawkins

    DVM

Dr. Dawkins grew up in rural Kansas and attended Kansas State University for both her undergraduate coursework and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She graduated in May 2012 from Kansas State University of Veterinary Medicine and joined VCA in June of 2012. She is married to Ryan Dawkins and they currently share their home with their Golden Retriever, Miller and 3 cats; Lily, Jeter and Camonte.

    Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

  • Rebbeca Moland

    DVM

Dr. Moland grew up on the Gulf coast of Florida, and she obtained her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida in Tampa. After spending 2 decades enjoying all that Florida has to offer, she decided that a change of scenery was in order, and she obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Missouri. After graduating in May 2013, she found the best of both worlds in Myrtle Beach, SC, where she has been pleasantly greeted by both the beaches and fall weather. She has been with VCA Palmetto since October 2013, and she has special interests in radiology, ultrasonography, internal medicine, and personalized, client-centered care for her patients and their people. Dr. Moland brings her mixed breed dog, Grim, with her to work every day, and her two cats, Coraline and Dorian, greet them when they come home. When not in the clinic, she can often be found diving into a new book, enjoying pilates, or teaching Grim silly tricks while the cats watch with disdain.

  • Andrea Winkel

    DVM

Hi, I'm Dr. Winkel. I'm originally from Livonia, Michigan, just outside of Detroit. I attended Michigan State University, not only for veterinary school, but I received my bachelor's degree in Zoology (concentration in zoo & aquarium sciences) there as well. Besides having a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine I also have a Masters degree in Veterinary Public Health from University of Minnesota that I did through a dual-degree program during vet school. I spent the first 4.5 years out of vet school as an active-duty Army veterinarian. During that time I worked closely with military working dogs, Service members' personal pets, wildlife, and performed food safety inspections of facilities on and off-post. This job took me all over the country from California to North Carolina, to places I would have never considered moving to previously before the Army. I am very excited about starting the next phase of my career here at VCA Palmetto. I mainly work with dogs and cats here, but I love to see other fun critters like birds, small pocket pets or even the occasional reptiles. My areas of special interest are soft tissue surgery, canine behavior and exotic companion animals. I do really love to teach and just like Dr. Berger-Bishop I think it is very important as veterinarian to be able to communicate effectively to you, as the client, the information that can help you care for your pet(s) the best way possible. I will continuously strive to give the best quality medicine to all of my patients and their parents (aka my clients) by always continuing to learn and improving my knowledge base. I have a wonderful Fianc퀌 and a multitude of critters_ I have 4 dogs (a Black Lab, a Chocolate Lab, a Pug and a long-haired Chihuahua), 2 calico cats, 1 African Grey parrot, and 2 Paint horses.
